Daniel Hyde

Known as much for his outstanding interpretation of the solo repertoire as for his colourful and inventive accompanying, Daniel Hyde is one of England’s most sought-after young organists and conductors. A former Organ Scholar of King’s College, Cambridge, from where he graduated in 2003 with First Class Honours in Music, he has been Director of Chapel Music at Jesus College, Cambridge since March 2004. A student of both Dame Gillian Weir and Nicolas Kynaston, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists at the age of sixteen, and in September 2002 was a concerto finalist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in the RCO Performer of the Year competition, winning Second Prize and the Audience Prize. While at King’s, engagements included concerts in London, Paris, Germany, Greece, Canada and Australia, an appearance as a concerto soloist in the Bruges Festival as well as regular recording work on disc, television and radio. As a student, he was grateful to receive financial assistance from the Eric Thompson Trust (Klais Scholarship) and the Worshipful Company of Musicians (Silver Medal).
