Valerian Ruminski

Valerian Ruminski is a graduate of SUNY-Buffalo and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He apprenticed with Santa Fe Opera and Chautauqua Opera and made his début at the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera in 2000/01. He also appeared with Opéra de Montréal, Vancouver Opera, Dallas Opera, Kansas City Lyric Opera, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Opera Ireland, New Israeli Opera (Tel Aviv), Opera Pacific, Ottawa Lyric Opera, Opéra de Québec, Calgary Opera, Opera Columbus, Michigan Opera Theatre, Minnesota Opera, Seattle Opera, Festival Lyrique de Belle-ile en Mer (France), Green Mountain Opera Festival, Santa Fe Opera, and the Greater Buffalo Opera Company in rôles such as Feniscio (Ermione), Sarastro (Magic Flute), Ferrando (Trovatore), Basilio (Barber of Seville), Ramfis (Aida), Zuniga (Carmen), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), Timur (Turandot), and Colline (La Bohème).

Ruminski is a recipient of the Lincoln Center Martin Segal Award, a Richard Tucker Grant, the MacAllister Singers Competition first prize award, a grant from the William Mattheus Sullivan Foundation, a 2004 Gerda Lissner Foundation Grant, first prize in the New Jersey Verismo Opera Competition and is the official winner of the Marcella Sembrich Prize for the Koscziuszko Foundation in New York City.
