Carlos Hipolito

Born in Madrid, Carlos Hipólito prepared for his stage career in the William Layton Actors’ Workshop, while studying architecture at the university. He later completed his drama training in various courses and in workshops in Spain and abroad. Since 1978 he has appeared in plays by Lope de Vega, Shakespeare, Lorca, O’Neill, Tirso de Molina, Pirandello, Brecht, Schiller, Valle Inclán, Calderón, Molière, and Tolstoy, among others, working with directors including Miguel Narros, José Carlos Plaza, Lluís Pasqual, Adolfo Marsillach, Pilar Miró, Jaime Chávarri and José María Flotats. He has at various times appeared with official companies such as the National Dramatic Centre and the National Company of Classical Theatre, and has given first performances of 33 works, most recently Tasmina Reza’s Arte and Jordi Galcerán’s El Método Gronholm under Tamzin Townsend.
