Lisa Gasteen (b1957)

Lisa Gasteen studied in her native Brisbane and at the National Opera Studio in London. She made numerous appearances with the Australian Opera and Victoria State Opera. In 1991 she won the Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Her wide-ranging repertoire includes the rôles of Leonora in Fidelio, Senta, Senta, Isolde, Salome, Elektra, Brünnhilde and Ariadne. She has appeared as a guest artist in Prague, at the Berlin Deutsche Oper and State Opera, the Opéra de la Bastille in Paris, in Zurich and Strasbourg, at the Welsh National Opera, in Dallas, Melbourne, as Aida at the New York Met, at the Melbourne Festival and at the Sydney Festival, as Isolde in London and as Brünnhilde at the Meiningen Theatre. She has appeared as Isolde at Stuttgart.
