Sigurgeir Agnarsson is Assistant Principal Cellist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Before joining the ISO he was a member of the German Chamber Academy in Neuss. He graduated in 1995 from the Reykjavík College of Music, where his teacher was Gunnar Kvaran. Further studies followed at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and at the Hochschule für Musik in Düsseldorf. He is head of the string department at the Reykjavik College of Music, and has appeared as a soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Bochumer Symphoniker, and Reykjavík Woodwind Orchestra. Agnarsson also performs regularly as chamber musician and soloist.
