The Swedish tenor Anders J. Dahlin was born in 1975 and made his studies at the music conservatory in Falun, Sweden and at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. Already in 1998 he made his operatic debut at the Norweigan National Opera where he acclaimed much success for his interpretation of Tom Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’ the Glassmenagerie composed by Antinio Bibalo. In recent years he has become one of the leading interpreters of the early french baroquemusic.
Anders J. Dahlin has worked with conductors such as Chrisophe Rousset, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Hervé Niquet, William Christie, Adam Fischer, Frans Brüggen, Philippe Herrweghe, Alessandro di Marchi, Robert King, Manfred Honeck, Stephen Layton, Iona Brown, Eric Ericsson, Tonu Kaljuste, Andreas Spering, Christoph Spering and Roy Goodman.
His opera engagements has included the title role of Rameau’s Zoroastre at Drottningholm theatre in Stockholm and in Amsterdam directed by Pierre Audi and conducted by Christoph Rousset, Atis in Rameau’s Les Paladins with William Christie and Les Arts Florisants, Carlos and Tacmas in Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes with conductor Frans Brüggen in Holland, Italy and Poland, the title role of Rameau’s Platée at he opera in Kiel with conductor Christoph Spering, Oberon, Phoebus and the Chinese man in Purcell's The Fairy Queen in Bilbao and Salamanca ( Rousset) ,Coridon and Un Insulaire in Lully’s Roland at he theater in Lausanne ( Rousset ), Soldato 1, Lucano in Monteverdi's L’incoronazione di Poppea in Lyon ( Christie ), Nutrice, Famigliari 1 in in Monteverdis L’incoronazione di Poppea in Toulouse ( Rousset ), Habitant and Un Plaisir in Demarest Venus et Adonis at the Opéra de Nancy ( Rousset ). Adraste in Marin Marais Sémélé at the opera in Montpellier with Hervé Niquet and Le Consert Spirituel.
Anders J. Dahlin has recieved much acclaim as The Evangelist in J. S Bach’s passions throughout Europe, as well as for his interpretation of Britten’s Serenade for tenor, horn and strings.
Other successful concerts inlude Telemaco and Humana Fragilita in Moteverdis Il Ritorno d’Ulisse at cité de la Musique, Paris with Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques, Haydn Die Schöpfung in Le Mans with Hervé Niquet. Recently he sang the role of Castor in Rameau’s Castor and Pollux with sir John Eliot Gardiner in Salle Pleyel and a similar Rameau programme at the Proms in Royal Albert Hall with great success.
Forthcoming events include L’Athlète and Mercure in Rameau’s Castor and Pollux at The Netherlands Opera and La Monnaie in Brussels. J. S Bach’s Mass in G-minor with Concerto Copenhagen an Lars-Ulrik Mortensen and Haydns Die Schöpfung with Frans Brüggen. A reprise of Rameau’s Zoroastre at Opera Comique in Paris in 2009.
