Simon Wall grew up in Suffolk and was head chorister at St Edmundsbury Cathedral. He later enjoyed a choral scholarship at St John’s College, Cambridge, after which he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London. During 2003 he was a soloist in the première of John Tavener’s The Veil of the Temple, in which he sang again at the Lincoln Center, New York and at the BBC Proms, his solo début there. He has appeared as a soloist with The Monteverdi Choir conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner in the United States in Haydn Masses, and in Europe and the Far East in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. He has sung with I Fagiolini at the City of London Festival and in Monteverdi’s Orfeo, at the Théâtre Châtelet, Opéra de Lille, and Opéra du Rhin. His recordings include Barber’s operetta A Hand of Bridge for Naxos (8.559135), some Caccini songs with La Nuova Musica, and the Monteverdi Vespers with The Rodolfus Choir (Signum).
