A descendent of the famed Paris Conservatoire Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris has been headed by a remarkable list of music directors, including Munch, Karajan, Solti and Barenboim. Since 1989 their chief conductor has been Semyon Bychkov with whom they have made a number of recordings, and have undertaken tours to North America and the Far East. In 1991 they established a relationship with Le Chatelet in Paris to present concerts and opera, including Manoury’s 60th Parallel (Naxos 8.554249–50).
