A native of Gloster, Mississippi, James Longmire (Johnny) is an established lyric tenor who has performed extensively as a concert soloist and operatic artist. He has appeared in Handel’s Messiah, Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore and Orff’s Carmina Burana under the baton of Colman Pearce, and as a soloist with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra in the Monroe Masterworks Program. He also frequently appears with the Mississippi Opera. Operatic performances include Spoletta in Tosca, Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro and Gastone in La Traviata. In 2000 he won the regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions and has won the Mississippi NATS auditions for three years in a row.
