Ladislav Kyselak


Born on June 27, 1956 in Brno

He comes from a family of musicians. At the Brno Conservatory he first studied the violin and two years later he changed for the viola class of the outstanding teacher Professor Alois Moráň. Under his guidance he finished his studies in the year 1976 and in the same year he became a student of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Prague in the class of Professor Josef Kod'ousek. At the end of his studies he gave a viola recital in the Dvorak Hall of House of Artists.

Of the many competitions that Ladislav Kyselák has taken part in, let us remember the honorary mention from the year 1975 at the competition of the Czech Ministry of Culture, in 1979 victory and the title of laureate in the same competition. He brought another honorary mention form the Isle of Man in Great Britain (1980) and the title of laureate from Portsmouth (1985).

Besides his solo activities, he is in demand as a chamber music player. He regularly records at the Czech radio, and is well known from television music programmes. He has alsomade a number of recordings for Czech and foreign music publishers. He toured many European countries, as well as the USA and Japan.

Ladislav Kyselák was a teach for four years at the Pardubice Conservatory; in the years 1986-1989 he played the first viola in the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava. In mid-1989 he became a member of the well known Janáček quartet and at the same time taught at the Janáček Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Brno.
