The Polish mezzo-soprano Urszula Kryger completed her studies at £ódŽz Academy in piano, voice and drama, continuing her vocal training in Copenhagen and thereafter winning success in a number of international singing competitions, including, in the early 1990s, First Prize in the Warsaw Moniuszko Competition, the Brahms Competition in Hamburg, and the ARD Music Competition in Munich. Her repertoire extends from baroque oratorios, through German and Italian opera, to the romantic and contemporary. Her career has brought appearances in concerts and recitals in major musical centres throughout Europe, with collaboration with conductors of the greatest distinction. Urszula Krygers international opera début took place in 1996 at the Semper Opera in Dresden, when she appeared as Angelina in Rossinis La Cenerentola. She has recorded for radio stations in Poland, France, Germany and Switzerland and her compact disc recordings include Poulencs Chansons polonaises with Pascal Rogé, songs by Chopin and a release of Russian duets.
