Maarit Kirvessalo

Maarit Kirvessalo is a native of Finland. She graduated from Detmold Music Academy (Germany) and from Sibelius Academy (Helsinki) as a violinist. Her main teachers were Pekka Kari, Anja Ignatius,Tibor Varga, and Lukas David.

She has also studied in various master-classes and chamber music courses with such distinguished teachers as Eli Goren, Rainer Moog, Nachum Erlich, Yair Kless (Ruben Academy), Sherry Kloss, Alberto Lysy (Menuhin Academy), Nathan Milstein, Leon Spierer, Chaim Taub, and Sandor Vegh. In addition, Ms Kirvessalo was invited to participate for one year at the Jascha Heifetz’s master-class, in USC-LA.

Maarit Kirvessalo’s activities as concertmaster and soloist include the Kammerorchester Tibor Varga Detmold, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburger Mozart Orchester, Camerata Lysy Gstaad and the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also worked as assistant of Prof Varga in Detmold and was a member of Tapiola Sinfonietta.

In her home country, Ms Kirvessalo is the founder of the Music Festival in Lemi and the ensemble Camerata Finlandia and she teaches at the Palmgren Conservatory in Pori.
