Stefanie Iranyi


Born in Chiemgau, the mezzo-soprano Stefanie Iranyi was a master-class student in the Lieder class of Helmut Deutsch in Munich. In 2000 she was a prize-winner in the German Stage Union competition, winner of the 2004 Zwickau Robert Schumann Competition and in the Romantic Song section of the Munich International Promotional Prize. In autumn 2004 she took first prize in the Berlin Regional Singing Competition. Her career brings regular appearances with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and she has given Lieder recitals with Helmut Deutsch at home and abroad, with concerts in Barcelona, at the Vilabertran Schubertiade, the Wigmore Hall in London, Geneva, Vevey, and Vienna. In 2005 she sang the alto solos in the St Matthew Passion under the direction of Peter Schreier in Japan, and in São Paulo with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra the alto solos in Mendelssohn’s Elijah. 2006 brought collaboration with Helmuth Rilling in Munich in Bach’s Magnificat and her stage début at the Turin Teatro Regio in Menotti’s The Consul.
