The Russian Philharmonia Orchestra was established in the mid-1990s as TV6 Orchestra, the orchestra of Channel 6 of Russian Television. Part of the orchestra’s function was to perform and record music for films and television. Later, the orchestra became independent and its name was changed to the Russian Philharmonia Orchestra. Its musical director and Principal Conductor is Alexander Vedernikov and the patron is Moscow City Hall.
