Established in 1991 through the initiative of the Junta de Castilla y León, under the direction of Max Bragado Darman, the principal conductor until 1999, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León worked from 2001 to 2004 under its principal guest conductor Salvador Mas, and now has Alejandro Posada as principal conductor. The orchestra has become one of the most dynamic and innovative ensembles of its kind in Spain, with a classical and contemporary repertoire, appearances in the principal concert venues in the country, and tours abroad to Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and the United States.
