Bernhard Krug (b1967)

Bernhard Krug was born in 1967. He played the piano from the age of six and at sixteen had his first horn lessons as a student of Anton Hammer. He continued his studies with Gerd Seifert at the Berlin College of Arts, and later at the Orchestra College of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He graduated with distinction, and was scholar of the Foundation for Higher Studies of the German People. Since 1991 he has been a member and since 1992 first horn of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig. Since 1999 he has also been a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with renowned orchestras playing horn concerts by Mozart, Haydn, Glière, Strauss, Telemann and Weber. As a chamber musician he has toured Germany, France, Japan, Mexico, Austria, Spain and the United States in different ensembles, including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Oktett, of which he is a founding member. Bernhard Krug teaches at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig and gives master-courses at universities in Germany and Japan.
