Salzburg Soloists

The Salzburg Soloists is an international ensemble of young musicians, founded in 1979 by the Salzburg violinist Luz Leskowitz. The ensemble made its first critically acclaimed appearance in the Kaiserpfalz in Goslar with Jeremy Menuhin as guest soloist at the tenth anniversary of the Harzburg Music Festival. This outstanding début was followed by concert engagements throughout Germany, Belgium and France, together with numerous radio recordings, concerts at many international festivals, including those of Stavelot, Wallonia, Flanders, Bologna, Brescia/Bergamo, Menton and Normandy, a first Spanish tour in 1983, performances for the Danish Royal Family in Copenhagen and an invitation to direct their own summer course in the south of France. The London début of the ensemble took place at the Wigmore Hall in May 1984 and there has been a continuing series of engagements at leading festivals in Europe. The Salzburg Soloists has the flexibility to undertake a varied repertoire from the string quartet to chamber orchestra and has collaborated with guest musicians of the international renown. It is directed by Luz Leskowitz.
