Christopher Hogwood’s conducting projects are closely connected to his research and editing work. He is in the process of a completing a new edition of Mendelssohn’s orchestral works for Bärenreiter, and this year he also launches his newest project as General Editor of the new Geminiani Opera Omnia (Ut Orpheus, Bologna). He also sits on the board of the C.P.E. Bach Complete Works Edition, and the Martinů Complete Edition.
Highlights among future engagements include the Leipzig Gewandhaus, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Münchner Philharmoniker , Beethoven Orchester Bonn, NDR Hannover, SWR Stuttgart, Frankfurter Museumgesellschaft Orchestra, Residentie Orchestra, RAI Orchestra Turin, the Schleswig-Holstein and Grafenegg festivals as well as extensive touring in China.
Christopher Hogwood has just conducted an acclaimed double-bill of Handel’s Acis and Galatea and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at London’s Royal Opera House. Performances of Handel’s rarely performed Arianna at the Barbican Hall with the Academy of Ancient Music coincided with Handel Reveal’d, a special anniversary exhibition curated by him at the Handel House Museum in London. Mendelssohn was celebrated in a three-week event with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo, where Hogwood conducted his own editions of the orchestral works, an ongoing project for Bärenreiter.
Christopher Hogwood has worked with most leading symphony orchestras and opera houses in the world. His catalogue of over 200 recordings with the Academy of Ancient Music on Decca, which includes the complete Mozart and Beethoven symphonies, has attracted some of the world’s most prestigious awards.
