Bruno Ferrandis

The French conductor Bruno Ferrandis graduated from both the Guildhall School of London and the Juilliard School of New York, and also studied with Leonard Bernstein in the United States and at Fontainebleau, and with Franco Ferrara in Siena at the Academia Chigiana. He has conducted major orchestras throughout Europe, in the United States and in the Far East, in addition to regular appearances with leading orchestras in France, where he has served since 1994 as a regular guest conductor with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. His experience in the opera house has brought performances of an unusually wide repertoire. He was associate conductor of the Juilliard Opera Centre until 1993 and since then has been resident conductor with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. Since 1997 he has been the guest music director of the Contemporary Opera and Song Training in the Canadian city of Banff. Bruno Ferrandis has won particular distinction with his work in contemporary music and is co-founder and music director of the New York Ensemble ‘MusicMobile’. In April 1997 his performance of Manfred Gurlitt’s Wozzeck with the Opéra de Rouen won the Grand Prix de la Critique.
