Timothy Koch, a champion of contemporary choral music and founder and music director of the Carolina Chamber Chorale, studied at Wesleyan University, the University of Illinois, and the Eastman School of Music. From 1994 to 1999 he was director of choral activities and opera at the University of Southern Mississippi, and he made his European debut in 1996 at the Prague Spring Festival. Koch has been music director of the Syracuse University Orchestra, the Eastman-Rochester Chorus, and the Illinois Symphony Chorus. He also served as music director of the South Carolina Symphonic Chorale in Columbia, the Carolina Chamber Chorale in Charleston, and the Carolina Master Chorale in Myrtle Beach. In 1998 he led the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and Southern Chorale in an East Coast tour to honor the seventieth birthday of Samuel Adler.
