The Romanian soprano Doina Palade was born in Bucharest where she studied at the Music Academy. Upon her graduation she sang at the Brasov Opera and in 1984 was awarded the title of laureate in the Pavarotti Competition in Philadelphia. Although Palade specializes in the operas of Bellini, she has also many of the standard soprano roles including Mimi with Luciano Pavarotti.
