Thomas Randle


The tenor Tom Randle made his début with English National Opera as Tamino in The Magic Flute, a rôle he has repeated with great success at Berlin, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Hamburg, New Zealand and the Covent Garden Festival. Well known for his vivid and committed stage portrayals and a unique ability to embrace a wide variety of repertoire, he has emerged as one of the most exciting and versatile artists of his generation. Operatic engagements include Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Amsterdam, Lausanne, Bordeaux), Benedict in Beatrice and Benedict (Welsh National Opera), Ferrando in Così fan tutte (Geneva, Brussels), Don Ottavio (Munich, Los Angeles), Pelléas (Paris, London), Idomeneo (Scottish Opera), Katya Kabanova (WNO) Achilles King Priam, (English National Opera, Reisopera), The Fairy Queen (Aix-en-Provence), Solimano (Innsbruck Festival, Berlin), the title rôle in Peter Grimes (Antwerp), Essex in Gloriana, Johnny Inkslinger in Paul Bunyan and the Fool in Gawain (Royal Opera House). For The Netherlands Opera he appeared in Peter Stein’s production of Henze’s Bassarids. He created the rôles of Nunez in Turnage’s The Country of the Blind and Judas in Birtwistle’s The Last Supper.
