Martin Hummel

Martin Hummel was born in Freiburg im Breisgau into a musical family and had his musical training in Würzburg and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Kurt Widmer and René Jacobs. He further continued his musical study with Margreet Honig, Peter Schreier, Hans Hotter and others, embarking on a career of song recitals and concerts that has taken him to a number of European countries, to the United States and to Asia. He has taken part in first performances, sung baroque music under leading conductors and undertaken broadcasts and television engagements, in addition to his recordings for major record companies. He teaches at the University of Music in Würzburg.
