Sefika Kutluer

The flautist Sefika Kutluer studied at Ankara State Conservatory and graduated with honours and awards in 1979. In the same year she became a flautist in the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. She studied further as a soloist in Vienna and Rome, subsequently teaching at the Ankara Conservatory for several years. Awards include the Interpretation Prize in the 1981 Veletri Primavera Musicale, third prize in 1985 and in 1986 first prize in the Doblinger International Flute Contest in Vienna. In 1995 she was awarded the presidential Medal in Turkey, the highest honour the country bestows on an individual. In 1998 she became a State Artist and in 2000 received the Inter-Lyra prize from the Hungarian Foundation for Performing Arts. She has participated in concert tours throughout the world and in international festivals, in addition to television appearances, broadcasts and recordings, collaborating with orchestras and conductors of the greatest international distinction.
