Janina Fialkowska

Janina Fialkowska is one of the best known Canadian pianists, having formed the famous group 'Piano Six', whose objective was to promote Canadian music worldwide. Her musical education took place at the University of Montreal and at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. National prizes in piano competitions led to success in the Arthur Rubinstein Masters Piano Competition in Israel. On her return to Canada she was invited to play with many of North America's leading orchestras. Included in these concerts have been a number of world premiere performances, while her recitals have also embraced many 20th century Polish compositions. Previous recordings on the Canada label, CBC, have included works by Liszt and a CD of Polish music.
