Brigitte Desnoues was born in Lyons. She studied classical guitar, singing, then opera, at the Geneva Conservatoire Supérieur. After two years at the Atelier Lyrique of Lyons Opera, she was offered a place with the company for two years. She won first prize in the 1987 International Lied and Oratorio competition in Clermont-Ferrand, which was directed by Gabriel Dussurget. Since 1988 Brigitte Desnoues has sung in various theatres and festivals in France and abroad, notably Idarmante in Idomeneo at the Paris Opéra Comique, Béatrice in Roussel's Le Testament de tante Caroline at Saint-Etienne, Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos in Aix-en-Provence alongside Jessye Norman, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, La belle Hélène, the Second Lady in Die Zaubeflöte at Montpellier and Peppa in Goyescas in London. As a recitalist she has been heard at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and during the Bastille Opera's inaugural week in 1989. She has recorded Madelon in Fortunio, Bianca and the Marquise in Les Brigands conducted by John Eliot Gardiner and Beatrice in Massenet's Amadis conducted by Patrick Fournillier.
