Coral Carmina

Coral Càrmina, founded in 1972 and originally directed by Jordi Casas, has since the 1986–87 season been the choir of the l'Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, with which it has presented more than 100 concerts. Its large repertoire ranges from music of the Middle Ages to music of the 20th century, with special attention given to Catalan composers. In 1988 the choir sang in the inaugural concerts of the National Auditorium in Madrid, and in 1992 it participated in the opening ceremonies of the Barcelona Olympic Games. Now directed by Montserrat Ríos, the choir has performed throughout Spain and other European countries, and has sung under guest conductors including Grayston Burgess, Franz Paul Decker, Lawrence Foster, García Navarro, Laszlo Heltay, Christopher Hogwood, Eliahu Inbal, Jürgen Jürgens, Ton Koopman, Jesús López Cobos, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Jorge Mester, Jean François Paillard, Andrew Parrott, Karl Anton Rickenbacher, Günter Theuring, and Volker Wangenheim.
