Nashville Symphony Chorus

For more than forty years the Nashville Symphony Chorus has regularly presented significant works from the classical choral repertoire from Baroque music to contemporary. During George Mabry’s ten-year tenure as Chorus Director, the Chorus has also been featured in three CDs, Celebration in Song, a collection of sacred music recorded in 2000, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis [8.557060], released on the Naxos label in 2004, and Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, released on Decca in 2006. Two further Nashville Symphony recordings with the Chorus are now in progress with Naxos, John Corigliano’s A Dylan Thomas Trilogy and Gian Carlo Menotti’s My Christmas, a cantata with male chorus to be packaged with Menotti’s popular opera Amahl and the Night Visitors.

The Chorus, now numbering 146 voices in concert, performs at least twice each season as part of the Nashville Symphony’s SunTrust Classical Series, in addition to special concerts such as Handel’s Messiah each December.
