Hernan Iturralde

Hernan Iturralde was born in Buenos Aires, where he studied, before further vocal training in Karlsruhe. In 1992 he won the Pavarotti Competition and was invited to Philadelphia, where he appeared as Schaunard in La Bohème. He was a member of Leipzig Opera and from 1996 to 2003 of the Stuttgart State Opera, where his rôles included those of Schaunard and Marcello in La Bohème, Trinity Moses in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Paolo in Simone Boccanegra, Count Tomsky in The Queen of Spades, Mustafá in L’Italiana in Algeri, Julian Pinelli in Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten, Leporello, Ping in Turandot, the title-rôle in Masaniello Furioso, and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro. Guest engagements have taken him to Bogotá, the Kassel State Theatre, the Haydn Festival at Eisenstadt, Theater Giessen, the Bregenz Festival and to San Francisco, as Papageno in a new production of Die Zauberflöte in Buenos Aires.
