The tenor Luca Favaron studied at the B. Marcello Conservatory in his native Venice. He has made many solo appearances with the Teatro La Fenice in Italy and abroad in works by Galuppi, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Stravinsky (Les noces), and Zemlinsky. He has also appeared with other organizations in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Mass in B minor, Mozart’s Litanies, Mayr’s Te Deum, and in Berio’s Eight Romances for Tenor by Verdi. He has taken principal rôles in Verdi’s La traviata, Il trovatore and Un ballo in maschera, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte, Le nozze di Figaro, La finta giardiniera and Bastien und Bastienne, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia,
Luca Favaron has been the winner or finalist in several international competitions, and has appeared as a soloist in recordings of Liszt’s Via Crucis, Cimarosa’s Cleopatra, and Galuppi’s La partenza e il ritorno de’marinai, and participated in recordings of Donizetti’s Elvida and Paisiello’s Il re Teodoro in Venezia, and in DVDs including Verdi’s La traviata, Donizetti’s Pia de’ Tolomei, Meyerbeer’s Il crociato in Egitto, and Wolf-Ferrari’s La vedova scaltra.
